Holistics
‘Holistic’ or ‘complementary’ therapies are the natural way to relax & rejuvenate the body. There are many therapies available, the ones I offer are:
Aromatherapy
The use of essential & carrier oils. There are many essential oils, which can be used to ‘treat’ conditions such as muscular aches & pains, insomnia, stress, digestive problems & colds to name just a few – the list is endless. The oils can be used in a variety of ways, including baths, inhalations, compresses & massage.
Swedish Massage
A full firm body massage with either carrier oil, massage cream or powder. The massage stimulates blood flow, boosts lymphatic drainage & releases toxins.
Dry Massage
Can be carried out fully clothed. Towels are placed over the back & legs & then the thumbs are ‘walked’ up the backs of the legs & sides of the spine, this is believed to act on acupressure points in the body, freeing the flow of energy.
Holistic Massage
Is an aromatherapy massage, using essential oils chosen for the client, the massage is firm & includes the use of neuro-muscular (deep tissue) moves, particular attention is paid to the upper back as this is where we all hold our stresses. As part of the treatment I walk the meridians on the feet, which is believed to disperse blockages in the flow of energy around the body & include a dry massage. Can also include meditation.
Indian Head Massage
Can be applied fully clothed. It is applied to the upper back, across the shoulders, down the arms, up the neck, through the hair & finishing on the face. It is both stimulating & relaxing, & can be applied with or without the use of essential oils.
Reflexology
All of our bodies systems are mapped out on our feet – amazingly. By massaging & stimulating parts of the foot we can encourage the body to ‘heal’ itself. There are many conditions which reflexology can help, for example infertility problems, IBS, migraines, joint problems, asthma, kidney & liver function – the list goes on & on.
Thermal Auricular Therapy
Hopi ear candles are hollow candles made of cotton, impregnated with bee’s wax, St Johns wart & essential oils. The candle is placed in the ear & burns for around 10 minutes, during this time, the chimney effect draws on the ear, pulling out ear wax, it also has a massaging effect on the ear drum, making it an ideal treatment for all ‘head’ ailments including migraine, sinusitis, rhinitus, glue ear & before air travel. The treatment is finished off with an aromatherapy face massage.
Reiki I
Although this qualification does not make me a practitioner – it does mean that the ‘healing’ energy flows through my treatments.
Before any holistic treatment the client is required to fill in a profile detailing their health & life style, this helps when choosing essential oils & carrying out treatments.
